Description

Year after year, new heroes of Grandmother Earth sign up for our training sessions at the HUNAB Ceiba Pentandra Park (Mérida, Yucatán). The Herbal Garden has been a very useful space for learning about plant species, their forms of germination as well as their medicinal properties.

The program for children and adolescents is called “My first Herbal Garden”, it is a 6-month training in which they learn to grow their own plants, harvest and dehydrate the leaves, prepare macerates and transform them into topical products for their pets, such as rosemary soap that prevents fleas and ticks.

We are also preparing an herbal laboratory. From an early age, children experience environmental science by learning to observe pollen and other elements, developing the skill of using a microscope.
